This is the big guy. AirMist's K300 misting system cools 480m³ of hot summer air to its wet bulb temperature every minute. With this capability, it has the performance to bring cool comfort to seriously large venues.
Imagine This: It's the hottest day of the year. Yet your area outside stays cool and comfortable in the fresh air. People swelter and sweat, but not in your facility.
This kit transforms large outdoor spaces into a cool, comfortable oasis. It's designed from the ground up for managers of large outdoor facilities who demand quality, durability, performance, and convenience.
In your facility, visitors stay cool and comfortable, making your establishment the place to enjoy summer’s outdoor action. This economical system is designed from the ground up to deliver instant relief from the summer heat without wetting anything.
How It Works: Our high pressure misting system kits deliver billions of tiny water droplets to your outdoor space. They evaporate instantly and cool the air. Nothing gets wet, unlike cheaper low pressure systems.
This is the 21st century version of evaporative cooling.
The K300 system suits large outdoor areas up to 180 square metres (about 6 m x 30 m), like:
- Childcare centres
- Playgrounds
- Animal facilities - lodging kennels, catteries, horse stables
- Sports venues.
The cooling effect is typically 72 kW. That's plenty to deliver refreshing outdoor cooling for hot summer days.
Installation: Our kits include everything you need for an effective, functioning high pressure misting system. All you need to provide are standard tools you’ll find in any tradesperson’s ute.
It's a simple job for a competent tradesperson. The K300 is a large system so allow at at least a couple of days to get the job done.
The services you need close to the pump are:
- A single 240 VAC power outlet (standard Australian 3-pin socket)
- A standard water connection (such as a simple garden tap).
Although the pump is splashproof it's best to locate it out of the weather. The K300 features a heavy duty pump that can be moved inside for safekeeping overnight, or over the cooler months.
What's In The Box
Your kit comes in a compact box:
- FG-300 high pressure pump
- Inlet water filter, fittings and 3 metres of low pressure piping
- 50 misting nozzles, each with 0.20 mm orifice, inbuilt filter, and anti-drip shut-off
- 49 snap-lock connectors and 1 end connector (1 per nozzle), tool-free assembly
- 3 snap-lock 90° elbow fittings.
- Quick-connect fittings for low pressure and high pressure piping
- 5 metres of high pressure PA12 pipe
- 49 lengths of stainless steel tube, chamfered grooved and polished (50 cm, 75cm or 100 cm)
- 50 pipe hangers
- A pipe cutter (for PA12 pipe)
- A pump oil syringe
- A pump sump hex key
- User manual.
Let's quickly cover the major components.
The Pump: The K300 high pressure misting system includes the powerful FG-300 pump. Specially designed for commercial use, it's a 3 piston industrial strength unit that's designed to work all day, every day.
-
Nothing to adjust once initial pressure setting has been confirmed
-
Won't disturb your peace and quiet, because it runs almost silently (58 dB)
-
Perfect cooling, because it’s bluetooth-enabled and all settings can be modified remotely via the free phone app, on the run.
The Nozzles, Connectors and Pipework: The K300 kit includes patented high-tech nozzles that turn high pressure water into a fog of billions of tiny water droplets. Typically these are installed at 75 cm spacings.
The nozzles include a replaceable micro-filter that removes any remaining particles from the water before they reach the nozzle. The nozzles include an anti-drip valve that shuts the nozzle as soon as the pipe pressure drops. Nothing gets wet underneath.
The PA12 (polyamide) pipe is a type of nylon that's pressure-resistant and flexible, so you can install it around corners or at odd angles. The pipe fits perfectly into the connectors, giving a tidy, pressure-tight seal without tools. This pipe is used to connect the pump to the nozzle network.
The nozzle network is designed to give an even spread of cooling mist throughout the under-roof area. Pressure-rated stainless steel tubes are installed between each nozzle to ensure minimal pressure loss over long distances. The stainless steel tubes provided by AirMist have special end grooving and chamfering to ensure perfect sealing with standard AirMist snap-lock connectors.
The Extras: The pipe cutter gives a perfect, clean cut so the PA12 pipe inserts easily into each connector. Pipe hangers hold the PA12 pipe neatly in place against your roof beans, eaves or siding. The hex key and oil syringe are used before startup to fill the pump crankcase (80 ml of oil), and at the stipulated service intervals.
Installation
The K300 high pressure misting system kit has been designed with sophisticated business owners like you in mind. It’s a big system so we suggest you outsource installation to your preferred plumber.
First things first: Please open your misting system kit and check all components have been supplied. Let us know immediately if anything’s missing, and we'll make sure to get the parts to you as soon as possible.
Next - and this is IMPORTANT, you need to fill the pump crankcase with a high quality oil BEFORE you turn it on. Flip the pump over and follow the directions on page 9 of the User Manual. A hex key and filling syringe is included - all you need is 80 ml of quality 5W-30 oil.
Plan it out: Next, grab a piece of paper and map out the area you want to cool. The K300 kit will effectively cool 180 m2 of under-roof area with 50 misting nozzles- if your area is smaller, no worries! The pump can handle smaller areas and works just fine with only 16 nozzles, or 60 m2.
Mark out where you want to place the misting nozzles, keeping in mind that the best cooling effect is when you separate them 75 cm apart. Each nozzle cools around 3.0-3.5 m2 of under-roof area, so plan your nozzle layout accordingly.
If you need additional parts such as high pressure elbows, tees, connectors or stainless steel pipe - we have those too.
Nozzle spacing: Even though 75 cm is ideal nozzle spacing for most Australian installations, you can go closer or further apart if needed. Further apart, up to 100 cm, works well for low-humidity inland locations. Go closer together, down to 50 cm, in high-humidity locations such as north Queensland or the Capricorn coast.
Stainless steel tubing: AirMist carries stainless steel tubing in 50 cm, 75 cm and 100 cm lengths. Our tubes have special end treatment (chamfer and groove) to ensure compatibility with our snap-lock connectors - DO NOT USE TUBING FROM ANY OTHER SUPPLIER, as it will not lock firmly in place under pressure.
Installing in one line: Many customers prefer to lay out their system in one line, for example under eaves or along one side of the roof structure. Great! If this is what you're planning, don't place the nozzle line hard against the building. You'll get a better cooling effect if you install the line on the sides furthest from your building and ideally, on the prevailing wind side. Because the air movement under a patio, verandah or patio typically moves from the outside in, bringing the mist-cooled area to where you want it.
Installing around a perimeter: You may want to cool a standalone structure like a cabana, an alfresco wing, or an outdoor kitchen that's separate from your main building. For installations like this, we recommend you place the line around the perimeter of the structure. It gets simpler if you have persistent wind direction through the summer months (here in the Sunshine Coast it's almost always easterly). Just install the line on the upwind edge so the mist-cooled air flows to where you want it.
Pump location: The pump is splashproof so it's fine if it gets a bit wet, but we strongly recommend you keep it out of the weather. It can't be submerged or stay wet for any length of time. Ideally you disconnect it from the nozzle line and tap so you can store it away when not in use.
The pump can be located some distance away from the nozzle line if you need easy access to water and power. We have additional lengths of high pressure PA12 pipe if the quantity in your kit isn't enough.
The optional keyless remote has a range of 30 metres in open space. That may be a pump location consideration, too.
Maintenance
The K300 misting system is super easy to keep in tip-top condition. There's just one thing you need to do every year, and that's change the pump crankcase oil. The kit includes the hex key you need to drain and refill the oil - all you need to do is grab some 5W-30 oil ( a small bottle from Super Cheap Auto is $20), and remember to change it once a year.
If you live in an area where the air temperature drops below freezing during winter, it's a good idea to remove the nozzles and drain the nozzle line. Keep the nozzles in your garage and refit before the hot summer days strike.
Sounds simple? Yes, because it is.
